The Colorado Avalanche have locked in forward Fabian Lysell on a one-year pact for the 2026-27 season.
The Avalanche announced the signing Tuesday, capping a trade acquisition from the Boston Bruins on June 27, 2026. Lysell, 23, just wrapped a 57-game stint with the AHL’s Providence Bruins, posting 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) and skating in one Calder Cup Playoff game. Providence finished first in the league with the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy.
Lysell brings AHL playoff experience and top-six upside after a 2025-26 campaign where he ranked sixth in scoring for Providence. The Swede’s 163 points (57G, 106A) in 219 AHL games underscore his playmaking chops. He’s also logged NHL time: 12 games with Boston in 2024-25 and three points (1G, 2A) with the Avs.
The Avalanche now have a young winger with playoff pedigree and AHL scoring touch. Lysell’s speed and two-way game could slot into a middle-six role, especially with Colorado sitting 1st in the Western Conference with a 55-16 record on a W3 streak. His international resume—bronze at the 2022 World Juniors and 2021 U18 Worlds—adds depth to a deep Avs lineup.
Drafted 21st overall by Boston in 2021, Lysell’s path to the NHL has been steady. He split 2021-22 between the WHL’s Vancouver Giants (62 points in 53 games) and Providence’s playoff push (21 points in 12 postseason games). The Avalanche’s move keeps him in the system after his trade from Boston.
