Colorado Avalanche Select Nine Players in 2026 NHL Draft

The Colorado Avalanche selected nine players in the 2026 NHL Draft, tied for the most since the draft was reduced to seven rounds in 2005.

What happened at the draft?

The Avalanche chose forward Egor Shilov from the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League's Victoriaville Tigres with the 43rd overall pick.

Shilov, 18, had 82 points in 63 games for Victoriaville in 2025-26.

Who are the key draft picks?

The Avalanche also selected forward Beckett Hamilton from the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels in the third round.

Hamilton, who ranked 33rd among North American skaters by Central Scouting, posted 62 points in 67 regular-season games.

What's next for the draft picks?

Shilov is expected to return to Victoriaville in 2026-27 and has committed to Penn State University for 2027-28.

The Avalanche are currently first in the Western Conference with a 55-16 record, on a W3 streak, after losing 2-1 to the Vegas Golden Knights on 2026-05-27.

The 2026 draft class features four defensemen, three forwards, and two goaltenders.

Tobias Tvrznik, the 126th overall pick, played for the WHL's Wenatchee Wild in 2025-26 and had a .913 save percentage.

The Avalanche's draft picks will look to make an impact in the upcoming season.
